Mankato: Betters Weinandt Attorneys At Law
Elizabeth Weinandt and Mark Betters formed Betters Weinandt Attorneys at Law in January 2011 and specialize in family law, business law, estate planning, and criminal defense.
Weinandt grew up in a small town north of Milwaukee where dad was a high school principal and mom a public school teacher. She had five siblings. “My parents are the best people and were very supportive,” said 37-year-old Weinandt in a telephone interview. “I learned from them personal accountability, striving to do your best, volunteerism—they were really active in community and church.”
Weinandt, at 6’2”, played center for Minnesota State’s women’s basketball team from 1992-96. She chose MSU, in part, because it was seven hours away; the move forced her out of a shell and helped her become more assertive and self-confident, she said.
After marrying, she graduated from William Mitchell College of Law and began work with Blethen Gage & Krause in Mankato. Of her employer from 2001-10, she said, “It was a wonderful experience and a very nurturing environment.” In part, she joined Betters in order to have even more flexibility in terms of family involvement. Betters, a Hamline Law graduate and former Apple Valley band teacher, had a similar personality and life goals.
Said Weinandt of their business, “Mark and I like engaging with clients to demystify situations and offer competent, common-sense solutions.”
