Jordan Sands Names Brett Skilbred as new vice president

Mankato, Minn. – Jordan Sands, an industrial sand mining and processing operation based in North Mankato, has named Brett Skilbred as Vice President. In his new role, Skilbred will help lead the strategic direction and tactical execution of the Jordan Sands operations including the resource development, mining, wet and dry processing, material management, rail fleet management, and process engineering. Skilbred was previously Director of Resource Development where he was involved in the intial planning and implementation phases of Jordan Sands, including land acquisition, project design, permitting, and facility construction.

Over the past 3 ½ years he has provided outstanding leadership through the permitting, construction and start up phases. For the past year he has focused on our mining, resource development, and environmental stewardship and most recently completed a significant project to improve our logistics and customer service functions. I am excited to see the improvements he will make to our low cost strategic position which will bring even greater value to our customers,” said Scott Sustacek, Jordan Sands Chief Executive Officer. 

 In addition to his work at Jordan Sands, Brett served on the Multi Agency Silica Sand Rulemaking Advisory Panel established by the State Legislature in 2013 and most recently served on the committee for the 2015 Governors Pheasant Opener Hunt in Mankato. 

 Previously, Skilbred served as Resource Director, Director of Quarry Operations, and Materials Manager at Indiana Limestone Company, Inc. in Oolitic, Ind. Skilbred holds an MBA in Finance, Operations and Systems Management from Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, Bloomington, Ind. Skilbred was also a member of The Entrepreneurial Management Academy and V.P. of Finance with the Graduate Entrepreneur Club. Skilbred holds a B.S. degree in Computer Information Systems from Purdue University School of Technology in West Lafayette, Ind.

 Skilbred begins his new role immediately and reports to Scott Sustacek, Jordan Sands Chief Executive Officer.
