Tee Times Lets Golfers Hit the Greens Year-Round

During the winter months, it’s hard for the avid golfer to find their swing in Minnesota. But, thanks to the vision and passion of the Laffen family of Mankato, area golfers now have another way to hone their skills and hit the green, even if the ground is white with snow. 

Tee Times opened its doors in November 2022 on Belle Avenue in Mankato. It features four Full Swing Pro Series golf simulators that allow patrons to “golf the world and never leave Southern Minnesota.” Golfers can hit the driving range or play on one of over 75 courses. Tee Times also offers 900 square feet of chipping green and a putting green for people to work on their short game. There is also league play.  

The concept for Tee Times was owner Shane Laffen’s response to a need he sensed in the area. 

“We started the business after discussing the fact that nothing like this existed in Mankato. We started researching similar businesses in other communities and felt the Mankato area could support the concept,” Shane said. 

Along with golf amenities, Tee Times has food and beverages, including a full bar, available for customers. Shane recommends their Brew Pub Pizza.   

Tee Times is a family business led by Shane. His wife, Nancy, is a secondary operator and two of their sons also work with them. Mitch is a primary operator, and Ben works part-time while also playing on the MSU-Mankato golf team. 

“We have been a family of golfers. So, being around the game of golf is the best thing about our business,” Shane said. “We understand we will be busier in the winter months and need to be creative about attracting customers in the months when most golfers will be playing outside. People should come check us out because we offer a fun and inviting environment.”
